Your authority as a believer

It is very important to know that when we pray and when we engage in spiritual warfare, we do it from a position of victory—not from a position of defeat. The Bible is clear and emphatic when it says that in Christ Jesus, we are more than conquerors. We can see this in the book of Romans 8:37, Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” A couple of verses before it talks about tribulation, anguish, persecution, hunger, danger, implying that Christ is above all these things, and that with Him and in Him, we are more than conquerors.

His Word says as well, in Ephesians 2:6 that we are sitting together with Christ in heaven. Ephesians 2: 4-6 says “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

I have to confess that many times my mind begins to ask me: how is it that we can be here on earth, but at the same time in heaven, together with Christ? I only say to my mind: it is written! If the Bible says it, I believe it! I do not walk by sight, but by faith! In addition, I command my thoughts to be submitted to the lordship of the Holy Spirit.

Truth is not what my mind says, nor what I feel; the truth is what is written.

The Word of God is true, and that is why it is so important to know it well. In the beginning you may start by silencing your mind from anything that comes against the word of God, but very soon your mind begins to be renewed and you start to think according to the Word.

I remember when I was a recently converted Christian, hearing many people in my church praying in this way: “Oh Lord, forgive my coming like this in front of you, because I am a filthy rag, a worm, I do not deserve…” I would listen to them and ask myself: what is their source of information? How do they get to those conclusions? My Bible said something different about my position, about my authority and therefore about my identity in Christ.

Since you and I are now a new creation, it means that it was before Christ that we were dead in our crimes and sins, but not now! Let’s look at 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

All is new! Now all you need to do, is to remove all the legal rights from the enemy and operate from the reality that you are a new creature. For more details about removing legal rights and operating from your new identity, visit www.daystream.org
