Going with the Flow

The flow of this world is like a river. For some it might feel like a lazy slow-moving river. For others it might seem like terrifying rapids. Regardless of how life feels, the flow of this world inevitably takes us through hurts, pain, trauma, and grief, leaving a sense of disillusionment, desperation and fatalism. Apparently, our best option is to embark on a path of self-fulfillment and a pursuit of happiness. Although we may have experimented with philosophy or religion, the flow takes us farther away from any hope of a profoundly improved life that these may offer.

The flow of this world is established by the prince of darkness, Satan. Consider

these verses:

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. Ephesians 2:1-3

We have all been guilty of going with the flow. We have all followed that satanic entity, the one who dictates the course of this world. This flow is so formidable that no one can break

its power, and go in the opposite direction, without the direct intervention of God. Throughout the whole earth, in every nation, in every society, and on every level, this dominating influence is a spiritual force at work in the heart of every human being. Yes, the whole world is under the influence of the wicked one named Satan. (1 John 5:19)

Being caught in the flow presents a true dilemma. How can we actually believe for a salvation experience when everything within us screams to go on with the flow? Cultural, generational, ideological, and spiritual forces combine to drive us down the river, to keep us in step with the philosophies and values of a world system that is at odds with the Kingdom of God.

There is a way out! The way out begins when you place your

trust in the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Without Him, you are without hope in the world! (see Ephesians 2:12). Help comes in the form of repentance. The word repent, in biblical Greek, is metanoia, which means a change of mind. Repentance involves a 180-degree change in the direction and spiritual quality of your life. The Holy Spirit’s deep work in your heart brings you to a place of repentance because He loves you!

Even after repentance and establishing a walk with the Lord, you may need further help to break free from spiritual barriers and oppression. The ministry of deliverance and inner healing has been of immense help to countless individuals who have spiritual barriers and have been unable to break free even after having established a personal walk with the Lord. It certainly was a great help to me. I know it would make a huge difference in your life too!
